I’m a long-term Ottawa County resident who’s concerned about the direction of our county government. I believe in leadership that’s fiscally responsible, competent, and transparent. I hope you’ll find this website helpful in learning more about me, the issues in this election, the 1st District, and useful information about voter registration, absentee voting, early voting, and polling locations, I also have ways you can stay up to date with the campaign, ask a question, volunteer, or donate to help us have a county government that serves all the citizens of Ottawa County.

Meet Jim Barry

My wife, Liza and I reside in Park Township and we’re proud parents of four grown children and grandparents to two girls. I grew up in Ottawa County, graduated from Zeeland HIgh School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University.

I’m celebrating my 10th anniversary with Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt in Holland, where I’m a licensed Associate Broker and Realtor® and am involved with local real estate development projects. I was previously a financial advisor where I held the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation from the College for Financial Planning. I also served as a longstanding Park Township representative to the Herrick District Library Board of Trustees where I also served as treasurer to the board.

Liza and I are actively involved with Grace Episcopal Church in Holland, I chair the Grace Endowment Board and have served on Vestry and as Church Treasurer, We also volunteer as Salvation Army bell ringers at Christmas.

Enjoying the proximity to Lake Michigan, we cherish family time and attending concerts at the many great music venues in West Michigan. I’m also a devoted season ticket holder for Grand Valley football. Go Lakers!

Jim is an independent thinking conservative Republican who’s only contract is with 1st District voters.
